As of May 16th you no longer need a surveillance document when you enter certain iron- and metal products into free circulation. The same goes for certain aluminium products.

The regulations were implemented by the European Commission to protect the metal industry in Europe against price drops after a strong rise in imports of metal products combined with a strong decrease in the export of metal products.

Regulations Not Extended

Surveillance documents are no longer needed for these products, as these regulations were not extended.

This includes the following regulations:

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/670 (iron- and steel products)

This regulation can be found here.

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/640 (aluminium products)

This regulation can be found here.

According to the Dutch Tax Authority, the European Commission will keep an eye on both the import of iron- and steel products and the import of aluminium products.
